Women's Fashion during The Great Depression
Women's fashion during the Great Depression is the topic I chose. I think women's fashion was very contrasting during this era because some women wore boring, simple clothing. Others wore bright, flashy clothes, and I happen to be a fan of both fashion types. It shows who was smart about their money and who wasn't. The more fancy the clothing the more money that women and her family had.
This relates to the Great Depression by showing which women and their families were affected by the Crash. The bright clothes usually went with the people who had the money. The boring clothing went with the women more directly affected by the stock market crash. This topic affected average Americans because some women couldn't afford to buy fancy clothing with their money, and instead had to use it to try and buy food for their families.

Women's fashion was less exciting for most of the Great Depression. Many models wore the extravagant clothing, while other women wore clothes like the ones in the image to the left. Some women wore normal house dress while others still had that Hollywood glam fashion style. A lot of the fancier clothes went along with the long, thin and lean looking dresses. The hemlines of the dresses went farther own as a sort of apology for the 'Flapper' style.
