Atomic Bombs in World War II
Atomic bombs (used in the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima) were dropped on Japan on August 6th and 9th of 1945. Their names were the "Little Boy" (first bomb) and "Fat Man" (second bomb). I chose this topic because atomic bombs are used to wipe out mass amounts of land. They're interesting because their outside is so small but the elements in them are big enough to wipe out miles and miles of land.
Atomic bombs were used in the bombings of Japan, killed between 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki, and 90,000-166,000 people, and flattened land all around it's major explosion. It was a tragedy, but the bombs also helped Americans get both revenge and ahead of Japan. By blowing up Nagasaki Americans rid Japan of one of their largest seaports, and with the bombing of Hiroshima they rid Japan of one of it's main military and agricultural producers.

The affect on Japan's citizens who lived through the bombing was harsh. A lot of victims got radiation poisoning and cancer. Children's body measurements were a lot smaller than the regular measurements, and those who were born after the mother's exposure suffer retardation. Citizens suffer "shell-shock," making social activity difficult. They breakdown, are imbalanced and still suffer fear of being bombed. Citizens also suffer through anxiety, depression, panic attacks, post traumatic stress disorder and personality disorders.
